Work will begin on Husker Highway

April 9, 2025 (Grand Island, Neb.) — Weather permitting, work will begin April 21 on Husker Highway at Monitor Road, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation.
Werner Construction, of Hastings, is the contractor. Husker Highway will be closed 1/2 mile west of U.S. Highway 30 (US-30) at Monitor Road where Husker Highway will be realigned with the new 4-lane divided highway. Husker Highway will be closed for up to 120 days during the construction of the intersection.
Motorists are asked to use an alternate route during the construction of the new pavement. Traffic will be maintained on Husker Highway with temporary traffic controls and signs.
Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously in and near work zones, to buckle up, and to put phones down.
