Warrant Service and Felony Arrests


Grand Island Police Car 1 

At 5:40 am on 8/31/22, the Grand Island Tactical Response team assisted members of the Tri-Cities Drug Enforcement Team Task Force (TRIDENT) with a warrant service on a residence located at 106 W. Phoenix in Grand Island.  


Following the service of the warrant.  The Grand Island Police Department arrested a 16 year old and a 19 year old Grand Island males in reference to several previous incidents.  Those incidents are as follows:


Armando Romero-Mijangos (19 year old Grand Island male)

 Theft by Unlawful Taking -  Felony relating to the theft of a Bobcat Side-by-Side UTV on       or around 7/23/22

 Conspiracy to Commit Discharge of a Firearm in a 1st Class City – Felony relating to the      shots fired during the warrant service on 8/5/22. 

 Unlawful Transfer of a Firearm to a Juvenile – Felony related to the shots fired during the      warrant service on 8/5/22.

 Possession of a Stolen Firearm - Felony related to a theft which occurred on 5/12/22

 Discharge of a Firearm from a Public Roadway – Misdemeanor related to a shooting       incident which occurred on 3/13/22

 Conspiracy to Commit Discharge of a Firearm in a 1st Class City – Felony relating to the      shots fired during the warrant service on 8/5/22.


The Hall County Attorney’s Office is reviewing both arrests, with the possibility of additional charges going forward.  


Portions of these arrests are still under investigation, particularly as it relates to the TRIDENT Task Force.  

However, the Grand Island Police Department believes that these arrests represent a substantial increase in community safety as a direct result.
