Grand Island, NE - As summer fades into fall, it’s a great time to take a sculpture walk in Railside. From South Front Street to Koenig, and Elm to east of Sycamore, you’ll find thirteen sculptures on temporary display through Sculpture Walk Railside.

Now is the time to vote for your favorite, with the winning sculpture earning the People’s Choice award. Voting may be done on the website https://arriverailside.com/sculpturewalk where a QR code may be scanned. If unable to scan the QR code, click on the word “click”. To help people find the sculptures, a map is available through the website or as a brochure at the Grand Island Tourism office, 201 W. 3rd Street.

Although the sculptures are here through April, voting for People’s Choice is only open through  December. The sculpture that receives the most votes earns a $500 prize for the sculptor.

Dana Jelinek, one of the Sculpture Walk Railside organizers said, “You need to see the sculptures up close to appreciate the detail, plus artist messages may be heard when scanning the QR codes on each sculpture. It’s an enriching experience.”

The sculptures on display are by artists from across the country, from Maryland to Washington, and represent seven states.

“We want people to take advantage of the weather before it starts to get cold,” said Jelinek, “it’s the perfect season to explore and vote. Plus, taking a sculpture walk is a great activity for families, groups of friends, individuals and work teams.”

Sculpture Walk Railside is one of six partner communities in Sculpture Walk Across Nebraska (SWAN). In 2026, two more communities will join the program. Sculpture Walk Railside is a project of the Railside Business Improvement District and is a component project of the Greater Grand Island Community Foundation.
