Urbanski Leads Mavs in Vegas With Two Personal Records

Nebraska Omaha Mavericks

Las Vegas, Nevada – The Omaha track and field team traveled to Las Vegas for the UNLV Rebel Elite this weekend.

The Mavericks set multiple personal records and season bests on Saturday, led by Avyn Urbanski, who set personal records in two events and now holds the ninth-fastest time in program history in the 100-meter dash.

"It was a busy weekend with travel and competition. It was important to see where we are as we head into the final month of the regular season," said head coach Cliff Cisar. "There were some definite highlights, including performances like Avyn Urbanski's, who had a great weekend, capped off with a 100-meter race that now ties her for ninth in program history."

Avyn Urbanski clocked a personal best time of 12.20 seconds in the 100-meter dash, securing the ninth-fastest time in program history for the event. Regan Barnard finished close behind with a season-best time of 12.44 seconds.

The 4x100 team of Emma Klein, Avyn Urbanski, Regan Barnard, and Tania Gleason finished in 47.41 seconds, marking the sixth-fastest opener of the Division I era.

Two more Mavericks set personal records in the 100-meter hurdles as Grace Mustard finished in 14.90 seconds and Lily Smith crossed the line at 15.47 seconds.

Urbanski scored another personal record in the 200-meter dash, finishing in 25.10 seconds. Ashley Ostrand finished in 25.98 seconds, marking the second-fastest time of her career.

In the 400-meter dash, Ava Robinson and Macy Persinger both ran personal-best times. Robinson finished in 15th place with a time of 57.96 seconds, while Persinger finished in 16th place with a time of 57.97 seconds.

The 4x400 team of Macy Persinger, Ava Robinson, Jocelynn Skoda, and Meredith Richter finished in fifth place overall with a time of 3:57.97.

Richter also finished sixth overall in the 800 meters with a time of 2:15.73.

Cisar went on to say that it is important to leave doubt and fear behind as the final month of the season approaches.

"With some highlights, there were areas that will need to be improved," said Cisar. "As we approach the final month, we aim to leave doubt and fear at the door and focus on improving with each rep, attempt, and race."
