Update on Reported ATM Skimming Incident at First Interstate Bank

Grand Island, Neb. — The Grand Island Police Department has officially closed a recent fraud investigation following findings from First Interstate Bank and its ATM service provider.
The investigation determined the device in question was not a skimming device in the bank’s ATM, as initially reported on Friday, June 6. First Interstate Bank has worked proactively with its clients throughout the review process to ensure all accounts remained secure. It’s also been determined that no customer information was compromised or obtained fraudulently.
The Grand Island Police Department would like to thank the bank and its ATM service company for their swift response and cooperation in resolving this matter, which helped alleviate public concern.
The Police Department reminds all residents to routinely monitor their bank and credit card accounts for any unauthorized activity.
