The Nebraska Kearney women’s basketball team moved up two spots to eighth in the latest NCAA Regional Rankings.

These rankings determine the 64-team (eight schools in eight regions) NCAA Tournament field that’ll be announced Sunday night (Mar. 9) at 9:30 p.m. Central. The Central Region consists of the MIAA, Great American Conf. (GAC) and Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conf. (NSIC).

The three conference tournament winners receive automatic bids with five at-large bids up for grabs; Concordia-St. Paul wrapped up the NSIC title last night (Mar. 4).

UNK (20-8) went 1-1 with both Fort Hays State (3rd) and Missouri Western State (4th) this year as well as knocking off Northern State (9th). The NSU Wolves (19-11) lost to Concordia in the NSIC tourney semis with Harding (21-6) set to play in the GAC quarters Thursday night. UNK faces Washburn in the MIAA quarters Friday at 6 p.m.
