UNK Women in Contention for an NCAA Tournament Bid

The Nebraska Kearney women’s basketball team moved up two spots to eighth in the latest NCAA Regional Rankings.
These rankings determine the 64-team (eight schools in eight regions) NCAA Tournament field that’ll be announced Sunday night (Mar. 9) at 9:30 p.m. Central. The Central Region consists of the MIAA, Great American Conf. (GAC) and Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conf. (NSIC).
The three conference tournament winners receive automatic bids with five at-large bids up for grabs; Concordia-St. Paul wrapped up the NSIC title last night (Mar. 4).
UNK (20-8) went 1-1 with both Fort Hays State (3rd) and Missouri Western State (4th) this year as well as knocking off Northern State (9th). The NSU Wolves (19-11) lost to Concordia in the NSIC tourney semis with Harding (21-6) set to play in the GAC quarters Thursday night. UNK faces Washburn in the MIAA quarters Friday at 6 p.m.
