The Nebraska-Kearney women's basketball team is the seventh-seed in this year's MIAA Tournament and will face the Washburn Ichabods Wednesday (March 6) in Kansas City.

The game against the 10th-seeded Ichabods (13-15) is the second of the day and will start around 2:15 p.m. With a win, UNK (18-10) would play Thursday at 2:15 p.m. against second-seeded Northwest Missouri State. The Bearcats (22-6) won at Missouri Southern State, 69-62, on Saturday to force a three-way tie for second and then took the tie breaker.

Back on January 25 at the Health & Sports Center, the Lopers beat Washburn 75-74 (OT) in the only meeting between the two this season. Guard Aubree Dewey (21 points) and post Yiibari Nwidadah (19 points, 12 rebounds) paced WU with UNK getting a double double from Shiloh McCool (15 points, 13 rebounds) and season-high 17 rebounds (12 offensive) from post Bailee Sobczak. Finally, UNK has won seven of the last eight meetings with Washburn including the past six.

The Bearcats and the Lopers split the regular season series, each winning on the road. UNK has won 12 of the last 14 matchups including victories in the 2022 and 2023 MIAA Tourneys. Overall, UNK is 8-9 all-time in the MIAA's, winning the title in 2021 down in Hays.
