UNK Volleyball: #3 Lopers Beat NW in 4 Sets

Outside hitters Carly Purdy and Emilee Lane combined for 26 kills as No. 3 Nebraska Kearney got past Northwest Missouri in four sets (-20, 20-25, -15, -18) Saturday afternoon in Maryville.

The Lopers remain unbeaten (17-0, 4-0) while the Bearcats fall to 6-7 (0-4). The two teams meet again in November in the Health & Sports Center.

UNK hit a solid .314 with both teams digging up 55 balls and having four aces. Purdy (North Platte) tallied 16 kills and hit .448 with Lane at 10 kills and hitting .321. The Lopers took control of things with an 8-1 run in the third set that broke an 8-8 tie. The 'Cats only had a couple of leads the rest of the night.

Dannebrog redshirt sophomore middle Sydney Davis was effective for a second straight match (nine kills, two blocks, .571 pct.) with Indiana junior libero Ellie Spang and Imperial junior outside Bryn McNair combining for 27 digs. Finally, Spang had two of UNK's four aces.

The 'Cats were led by Kassidy Mohwinkle (12 kills, five digs, .323 pct.) and Abby Bulthuis (11 kills, seven blocks).

UNK hosts Fort Hays State on Tuesday night.
