Topping Out Celebration Planned for Kearney SportsPlex

The City of Kearney is excited to announce a “Topping Out” celebration planned for Thursday, April 4, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Kearney SportsPlex. The event will occur at the construction site of the Kearney SportsPlex, located at 1415 Younes Drive. A “Topping Out” celebration occurs when the final structural beam is raised into place, completing the building’s frame, and marking a significant project milestone. Weather permitting, a flag or an evergreen tree will be brought to the highest point of the construction site via a beam signed by the project team, to symbolize the topping out.

Members of the public are invited to attend this celebration. Attendees are asked to park along 16th Avenue, 11th Avenue, or Younes Drive, as Talmadge Street will open temporarily for the event. Event access is located at the center gate on Younes Drive. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be postponed to a later date.
