State Street Closure Starts Monday, March 25th

The City of Grand Island Public Works Department is announcing State Street will be closed on Monday, March 25, 2024 between Sagewood Avenue and Aspen Circle.  Menard’s driveway will be open during construction, east of the construction zone.  Autumn Park Apartments will have access from Ebony Lane, McCoy Lane and west driveway, west of the construction zone.  State Street is tentatively planned to be closed until July 2024.  

The Claude Road project includes new construction from 13th Street to State Street.  The project will consist of a concrete curb and gutter, 3-lane, 41’ wide roadway section.  Two roundabouts will be constructed with this project and include the intersections of Claude Road and 13th Street and Claude Road and State Street.  The project will also include storm sewer construction, sidewalk/bike trail improvements and water main adjustments.  

On December 5, 2023, City Council awarded the construction contract to Diamond Engineering Company of Grand Island, Nebraska for $4,338,004.15.
