St. Paul takes down O'Neill for first win of season.

St Paul Softball

The first few games of the year are a feeling out process plugging pieces in and out in the lineup and that was the case for the St. Paul Wildcat Softball team in their season opener on the road at O'Neill.

The Cats rolled Addy Wegner into the Circle and the senior didn't disappoint throwing a complete game victory as St. Paul starts the year 1-0 with 9-1 victory over O'Neill.

A feeling out process indeed the game was scoreless going into the 4th inning with both teams missing opportunities to strike first on the scoreboard. The Cats struck first and never looked back as Senior Audra Dugan took off for 3rd in an attempt to steal as the ball got away from the 3rd baseman. Dugan was the game's first run with the Cats taking a 1-0 lead.

The 5th inning was the deciding factor in the contest as the Cats had 2 quick outs in the frame before rallying off 7 straight batters to roll through their lineup completely with Sophomore Kyndel Sack getting the game winning hit on a double that scored older sister Kami and Jorja Vokes to make it 3-0. the Cats added 5 runs in the inning to give themselves a comfy 6-0 cushion.

Both teams would split a run in the 6th with the Cats scoring the games final 2 runs enroute to the 9-1 victory.
