St. Paul Fall Sports Preview

High School Sports Practices kicked off Monday 8/11 with the St. Paul Wildcats kicking off 5 Varsity Sports including Football, Softball, Volleybal, Cross Country, and Girls Golf. Trevor Bentley had a chance to catch up with all 5 Varsity Coaches to get their perspectives on the upcoming year.

Girls Golf - Wildcat Golfers will have 4 varsity golfers this year butt that doesn't stop Head Coach Ashey Lynch from thinking the Cats can make some noise on their schedule including the St. Paul Quad at the Country Club on 9/4. The Cats tee off their season on 8/26 at Indianhead for the Doniphan-Trumbull Invite.

Softball - Fresh off a Runner up finish in Districts and losing 2 seniors from last years class. The Wildcats are hungry for redemption as the core group of returners have high aspirations to pick up where the season ended last year. Softball has their first game set for 8/21 @ O'Neill.

Cross Country - A young group of Underclassmen led by Junior leadership has Head Coach Don Kleinsasser excited for the season. The Cats fresh off of their best season under Kleinsasser has high expectations for his young group as they have set the bar higher reaching for goals set from last year. The Cats run their first meet at the St. Paul Country Club on the 28th.

Volleyball - The Wildcats move down to C2 but the schedule remains virtually the same for Matt Koehn-Fairbanks and company as the Cats return every starter from last year adding some depth with the up and coming freshman class. The Wildcats open their season 8/28 at David City.

Football - A new era for Wildcat Football as Cory Valasek will take over the reigns of the Cats on the Gridiron. A core nucleus of returners could be what the Cats need to get back to the Postseason for the first time in 5 years. The Cats open their season 8/29 @ Kearney Catholic.
