Sodbusters Settle for Split

Hastings Sodbusters

Hastings was one out away from a Sunday sweep of Fremont. But five straight reached in the top of the seventh as the Moo rallied for a 4-4 tie. Fremont scored five runs on six hits in the 8th for a 9-5 extra-inning win.

The Sodbusters had won the completion of the suspended game earlier 5-1.

In the opener, Hastings scored four in the eighth to break a 1-1 tie. Braden Cork scattered six hits in five innings of one-run relief to pick up the win. Josh Nolte worked four innings of shutout baseball in the start.

Kale Jensen's RBI single broke the tie in the eighth. Brady Alexander went 2-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Joey Hecker had a two run single.

In the second game, Josh West had a two hit shutout heading into the seventh before Fremont rallied. He settled for a no decision after giving up four runs on six hits in 6.2 innings.

Drew Vega was 2-3 with an RBI and run scored. Luke Caussey was 2-4 and knocked in two.

Hastings plays the Nebraska Prospects for a four-game series beginning on Tuesday to close the home schedule.
