Sodbusters Earn Unlikely Win

The Hastings Sodbusters battled from behind twice for a 7-6 win over Spearfish on a rainy Saturday night. The Sodbusters won despite being outhit 11-4. The first five Hastings runs came without the benefit of a hit. The Sodbusters took advantage of 11 walks, three errors, and two hit batsmen and won despite striking out 14 times.

After giving up the lead in the top of the ninth, Hastings rallied for a second time. Ryan Jarvis single. Luke Caussey reached on a fielder's choice. Weston Johnston  drew a walk. The Sodbusters worked a double steal and the throw to third was wild allowing Caussey to score. Tyler Welsh lofted a popup to short right. Johnston tagged and scored the winning run as the second baseman slipped as he tried to throw home. Nate Fisher picked up the win in relief.

The teams meet again at 6:35 Sunday at Duncan Field.
