September Traffic Fatality Toll

Oct. 15, 2025 (Lincoln, Neb.) — During the month of September 2025, twenty-three people were killed in traffic crashes on Nebraska roadways, according to data collected by the Nebraska Department of Transportation.
♦ These 23 fatalities occurred in 21 fatal crashes.
♦ Nine of the twenty vehicle occupants killed were not using seatbelts, six were using a seatbelt, and
five had seatbelt usage marked as unknown.
♦ Sixteen of the fatalities were in rural locations
♦ There were zero fatalities on the interstate, eleven on other highways, and twelve on local roads.
♦ Two of the fatalities were pedestrians.
♦ One of the fatalities was a motorcyclist.
♦ One of the fatal crashes involved a train.
There were 30 fatalities in September of 2024. Only 45 of the 130 vehicle occupants killed during 2025 were using seatbelt
