Senator Ray Aguilar Announces Re-Election Campaign for District 35
– Grand Island State Senator Ray Aguilar today announced his intention to seek re-election to represent District 35 in the Nebraska Legislature.
“Three years ago, I launched my campaign to return to the Nebraska Legislature to get meaningful results for Grand Island families,” Aguilar said. “I’m proud to say I’ve worked to cut taxes, protect the unborn, and have stood up for quality schools.”
Senator Aguilar was instrumental in securing $8 million dollars for the Nebraska Veterans Cemetery at Grand Island, he co-sponsored legislation banning abortion after 12 weeks, and worked to address our state’s workforce shortage whether it’s learning a trade or getting a degree at our University System or at one of our state or private colleges by introducing the Nebraska Career Scholarship Program.
He voted for the creation of the Property Tax Relief Fund to help lower the property tax burden on seniors, veterans, small businesses and working families and for tax reform bills that resulted in $1.7 billion in property tax relief, a 100% state income tax exemption for military retirement benefits, and a 50% state income tax exemption for social security benefits by 2025.
“Property taxes are too high, and the valuation system of our property tax is out of control and must be changed. That’s why I voted to cut and reform our tax code,
including property, business, and income taxes. Lowering the property tax burden remains his number my number one priority,” Aguilar stated.
“I’m a proud conservative Republican and a strong believer in individual liberty and fiscal responsibility. And I’m committed to protecting the freedoms we hold dear and upholding the principles that make our state strong. While we must always be open to new ideas and perspectives, we must also defend the values and traditions that have made Nebraska the state we love,” Aguilar said.
Senator Aguilar previously served as the State Senator from District 35 from 1999 to 2008 and was re-elected again in 2020. A registered Republican, Ray has been married to his wife Susan for 50 years and has nine children.
