Schieber Named President of CHI Health St. Francis

Grand Island-CHI Health St. Francis announces Steve Schieber, MBA, FACMPE, FACHE, will be the hospital’s new president starting May 12. Schieber most recently served as the Chief Executive Officer for a Four-Hospital Critical Access Region at Saint Luke’s Health System in Kansas City, Missouri.

Schieber succeeds Ed Hannon who served as president of St. Francis for seven years before retiring at the end of January.

“The edifice of St. Francis Hospital is striking but even more impressive is the commitment to excellence I found during my visit. Every member of the St. Francis family I met was excited to provide emphatic care to the Grand Island community as part of a 140-year-old legacy that has touched so many lives. I am honored to be chosen to lead a team that is motivated to provide a faith based ministry of healing for the whole person: mind, body and soul,” says Schieber.

Schieber graduated with honors from Northwest Missouri State University with a Master’s of Business Administration. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and the American College of Medical Practice Executives and the former president of the Missouri Hospital Association (North District). He’s also served on numerous community boards.

“My wife, Kittie Jane, and I are thrilled to join the Grand Island community. We love the wide breadth of services available in the town that still maintains the personal warmness that we enjoy. It is exciting to see the progress the community continues to make and we look forward to being a part of this dynamic growth,” says Schieber.

“We are excited to welcome Steven to St. Francis. He already embraces our rich heritage and dedication to improving the health of our region. With more than 25 years in health care leadership, he will do great things for our community and the continuation of our mission to heal all, especially those who are most vulnerable,” says Kiley Grzywa, vice president, Patient Care Services.
