Record Enplanements for May take Central Nebraska Regional Airport to New Heights

Grand Island, Neb. – Central Nebraska Regional Airport reported a total of 6,600 enplanements for the month of May making it the largest May on record for the airport. The previous record occurred in May 2017 with 6,189 enplanements.
Hall County Airport Authority Executive Director, Mike Olson, said, “Another record-breaking month show’s there’s demand here in Grand Island and it continues to grow. Thank you to Allegiant Air for the extra frequencies to Mesa. The additional flights are a big reason why we are on a record-breaking pace to exceed 2019’s record year.”
Allegiant Air added a third flight each week from Grand Island (GRI) to Mesa Gateway (AZA) last December that is still going strong.
American Airlines, operated by SkyWest, has issued larger jets to service GRI to accommodate the growing number of passengers. The bigger jets begin August 6, 2025. The upgrade to a CRJ900 jet will allow 10 more passengers per flight. This includes 12 first-class seats and 63 main cabin seats.
Allegiant Air also flies twice weekly out of Grand Island to Las Vegas (LAS). American Airlines flies twice daily to Dallas/Ft. Worth (DFW) allowing Grand Island area residents access to almost anywhere in the world from the Central Nebraska Regional Airport.
