Public Service Commission Names New Executive Director

Lincoln, July 22, 2025- The Nebraska Public Service Commission has named Greg Walklin as its new Executive Director. Currently the Commission’s General Counsel Walklin, 41, will replace Thomas Golden, who will retire from the role at the end of July.
“We are excited to be able to promote from within the agency and are pleased that Greg has accepted the opportunity to lead the Commission,” said Commission Chair, Tim Schram.
An attorney, Walkin, has 16 years of service with the state of Nebraska. Prior to taking the role of PSC General Counsel in October 2023, he was the Director of Procurement and Grants for the Department of Health and Human Services. He also served as an Assistant Attorney General with the Nebraska Department of Justice.
Vice Chair, Commissioner Kevin Stocker said, “Greg’s understanding of the legislative process has been key to helping guide the Commission and establish effective working relationships with our state partners and leaders. We look forward to him continuing that role.”
During their July 22 meeting, Commissioners voted unanimously to promote Walklin to the position of Executive Director. Walklin, who will receive an annual salary of $165,000, will take over his new role on August 1.
“I want to thank the Commissioners for the confidence they’ve placed in my ability to direct the daily operations of the agency,” Walklin said. “We have an extremely experienced and dedicated staff, and I look forward to continuing to build upon that knowledge as we work to regulate services essential to all Nebraskans.”
