NSP Promotes Two Leaders to the Rank of Major

February 24, 2026 (Lincoln, Neb.)  — The Nebraska State Patrol is pleased to announce the promotion of two long-time leaders to the rank of Major.

Major Michael Grummert will serve as the commander for Western Operations, including Troop Areas C, D, and E of the Patrol Division, as well as the Carrier Enforcement Division. Major Greg Miller will serve as the commander for NSP Support Services, which consists of Investigative Services for the entire state and Special Operations.

“Major Grummert and Major Miller each have a long track record of excellent leadership for our team,” said Colonel Bryan Waugh, Superintendent of the Nebraska State Patrol. “The work they have put in throughout the careers and the integrity they have shown at every stage of the career journey has prepared them for these new roles. Our team is proud to have them serve in these command positions and our troopers will benefit greatly from their expertise.”

Major Grummert is a 25-year veteran of the Nebraska State Patrol. He most recently served as the Commander of the Capitol Security Division. Throughout his career, he has served in Carrier Enforcement, Patrol, and as a Drug Recognition Expert. Major Grummert is also a proud veteran of the Army National Guard and is a graduate of the Northwestern School of Police Staff and Command. 

Major Greg Miller is a 26-year veteran of the Nebraska State Patrol, most recently serving as Troop Area Commander of Troop A – Omaha. Major Miller has held previous roles in Carrier Enforcement, Patrol, Internal Affairs, and as the NSP Director of Training. Major Miller is a graduate of the Northwestern School of Police Staff and Command.
