Northwest Softball Wins At Gretna East 8-0
(Gretna, NE) - The Northwest softball team picked up a Tuesday night road win over Gretna East by a final score of 8-0 in six innings. The Vikings would score a run in the first inning, three more runs in the second, two more in the third inning, and one run each in the fifth and sixth. Northwest would get their 40th and 41st home runs of the season. In the top of the 2nd inning freshman Sadie Cemper would hit her first varsity home run in the fashion of a three-run homer. Libby Loman would get her seventh home run of the season with a solo shot in the fifth inning.
Graclyn Simmons would get the win in the circle for the Vikings to move to 16-1 on the season. Simmons only gave up one hit in the game vs Gretna East along with three walks and would have five strikeouts.
Northwest is now 23-1 on the season. The Vikings will next be in action on Thursday, Oct. 3rd as they will look for their fifth straight Central Conference tournament championship. Northwest will play the winner of Lexington vs Schuyler on Thursday at 10:45 am. The other first-round games on Thursday in the Central Conference tournament: York vs Aurora - Seward vs Hwy6 - Crete vs Lakeview.
