Northwest Softball Downs Kearney 10-2 Behind Simmons No Hitter
(Grand Island, NE) - It was the second home game of the year for the Northwest Vikings on Tuesday night hosting Kearney. Northwest took care of the Bearcats winning by a final score of 10-2 in six innings. The Vikings would have 10 runs on 11 hits and 2 errors in the game. Kearney would have 2 runs on 0 hits and 5 errors in the game. Northwest would score 3 runs in the 1st, 2 in the 4th, 1 run in the 5th, and finish the game with 4 runs in the 6th. Kearney's two runs would come in the top of the 4th. Laiken Dorsey would hit a home run in the game for the Vikings as she would finish with 2 hits and 4 RBIs. Kyra Ray would finish with 3 hits and 1 RBI. Reyse Zobel had 1 hit and 2 RBIs in the contest. Libby Loman chipped in a hit with 2 RBIs.
Graclyn Simmons pitched the no-hitter for Northwest going six innings with 2 runs allowed giving up 3 walks and finishing with 11 strikeouts on 108 pitches. Northwest softball is now 9-0 on the season and will next be in action on Saturday, September 7th at the Kearney Invite. Then Monday, September 9th Northwest will take on Kearney Catholic at the Vets Complex.
