Northwest pick up cross town victory over GICC
(Grand Island, NE) - It had been a hot second since the last time the Northwest Vikings had defeated Central Catholic boys on the hardwood. In fact, you would have to go back to 2016. Northwest ended the losing streak to their cross-town hoops rival Friday night at Crusader Gym downing GICC 45-41. The first half would be nip and tuck with Northwest going into the break with a one-point advantage of 20-19. Northwest would outscore GICC 11-7 in the third quarter. GICC would win the fourth quarter 15-14 but the comeback would come up short. GICC would have several hustle plays creating turnovers off of Northwest down the stretch but would not be able to capitalize as the Vikings would get their fourth win of the year in the end. Both teams in fact are now 4-10 on the season. Northwest will be back in action on Tuesday, January 24th at York for a Central Conference tournament match-up.
