Northwest Honors 2025 Distinguished Alumni Award Recipient Dave McMichael

(Grand Island, NE) - On Friday morning in front of the Northwest student body the Northwest Education Foundation recognized 1984 graduate Dave McMichael as the recipient of the 2025 Distinguished Alumni Award.
Dave McMichael served in United States Army between 1984 to 1999 in the Cavalry Armor Division at the rank of Staff Sargent SSG (E-6). During his service, Dave served in the Persian Gulf War in Iraq, Operation Desert Storm, and Desert Shield between August 1990 to January 1991 then pursued a career working for the Department of Defense at the Pentagon.
After Operation Desert Strom, computers gave Dave an additional opportunity to serve his country at the Pentagon as a Chief Technical Advisor since 1992. As a Government Service Provider, Dave programs and repairs communication satellites and other electronic systems for the United States military and friendly forces around the world with software development using security operations processes that provide pictures of the battlespace that is necessary to conduct joint and multi-national operations.
Dave’s work in the Cavalry Armor Division in the United States Army and his career in the Pentagon as a Chief Technical Advisor has proven successful to stopping opposing forces, saved countless military and civilian lives on the battlefield and in the defense of the United States and its citizens.
