Northwest Boys Basketball Season Comes To An End

(Omaha, NE) - The Northwest boys basketball season would end on Monday night, falling at Skutt Catholic 71-42. With the win, the Skyhawks advance to the Class B state basketball tournament in Lincoln for the 8th straight time next week.
Skutt would open the contest with a 12-0 lead and lead at the end of the first quarter 19-6. Northwest would then trail 21-7, but then Viking senior Cam Walker would go on a 7-0 run to force a Skutt Catholic timeout to only trail by seven, 21-14. Out of the timeout, Skutt would hit the gas and run away to a 38-16 halftime lead. The Skyhawks would have a commanding lead after three quarters 57-29 and then outscore the Vikings 14-13 in the fourth quarter.
Northwest ends the season with a 17-9 record. It was the first double-digit, single-digit loss and district final appearance for the Vikings since the 2020-2021 season. Skutt Catholic advances to state with a 21-5 record.
