Northwest Basketball Picks Up Home Wins
(Grand Island, NE) - The Northwest basketball teams hosted North Platte on Tuesday night. The Northwest girls defeated North Platte 47-33. The Viking girls would lead at the halftime break 22-15 and cling to a 32-26 lead at the end of the three quarters. Northwest would open the game up in the fourth quarter with a 15-7 run. The Vikings would get 16 points from senior Reagan McIntyre to lead the way for Northwest. Jolie O'Hara would chip in 11 points and 7 points from Daveigha Heikes. North Platte slips to 4-10 on the season. The Northwest girls are now 10-4 on the season. The next action for the Vikings will be on Saturday, January 25th at Ogallala.
The Northwest boys would claim a 59-43 victory over the Bulldogs. The Vikings would get off to a great start with a 20-5 run in the first quarter. The black and gold would lead 30-14 at the halftime break and have a 41-24 lead at the end of the third quarter. North Platte would outscore the Vikings 19-18 in the fourth quarter. Northwest would have three players score in double digits to lead the charge. Jaden Brandt had 18 points, Brandon Bykerk 15 points, and Cam Walker had 10 points. Northwest boys are now 10-4 on the season and have now won six in a row. North Platte is now 1-13 with the loss. The next action for the Vikings will be on Thursday, January 23rd hosting Boys Town.
