Northwest Announces Girls Soccer Coaching Changes

(Grand Island, NE) - On Monday morning, Northwest High School announced a head coaching change for the Viking girls' soccer team. After 14 years leading the soccer club, Jess Herrmann is stepping down as head coach. Herrmann will continue to teach at the high school and help coach basketball. This past season, Herrmann helped guide the Vikings to a 15-3 record. During her time, she also led the Vikings to their only two appearances at the state soccer tournament in 2022 and 2024.
Taking over the head coaching duties for the Vikings will be assistant coach Molly Nicol. Nicol is currently a kindergarten teacher at Cedar Hollow. The Kearney High grad played college soccer at UNK, where she was a 3-time All-MIAA, 3-time MIAA Scholar Athlete, 4-time MIAA Academic Honor Roll, 72 matches played, all starts, school-record 6,762 minutes, and tied school record for games started, along with tied for second in games played.
