Northwest Announces Cindy Wells As Interim Activities Director

(Grand Island, NE) - Northwest High School announced on Wednesday afternoon that Cindy Wells has been named interim activities director and assistant principal for the 2025-2026 school year. Wells will step in and take the place of Matt Fritsche, who will be moving on to Gretna East to take a similar role. 

Cindy Wells, who retired as the activities director at Grand Island Senior High at the 2023-2204 school year, wrapped up a 40-year career with GIPS. Wells came to the GIPS district in 1981. During her time she served as the school's volleyball coach, special education and English teacher, and assistant principal, before taking on the role of activities director.
