Nebraska Environmental Education Conference 2026
“Rising Together: Building Belonging through Art, Ecology & Stories of Place”
Kearney, NE — [January 12, 2026] — The Nebraska Alliance for Conservation and Environmental Education (NACEE) proudly announces the Nebraska Environmental Education Conference 2026, taking place February 6–7, 2026, in Kearney, Nebraska. This year’s conference — themed “Rising Together: Building Belonging through Art, Ecology & Stories of Place” — invites educators, conservation professionals, artists, storytellers, naturalists, and community leaders from across the state to explore the intersection of environmental learning, creativity, and community connection.
Hosted at the University of Nebraska at Kearney’s Regional Engagement Center and the Iain Nicolson Audubon Center at Rowe Sanctuary, this two-day event is designed to elevate environmental education as a powerful tool for fostering ecological belonging and inspiring curiosity among learners of all ages. Through hands-on workshops, engaging keynote presentations, and collaborative sessions, attendees will gain inspiration, practical skills, and meaningful connections to support inclusive, place-based learning experiences.
“Our goal with this year’s theme is to strengthen connections — between people and place, art and ecology, and individuals and the broader natural world,” said Alie Mayes, NACEE Board President. “We’re excited to bring together a diverse group of educators and professionals to share insights, tools, and strategies that enrich environmental education across Nebraska.”
NACEE — the Nebraska state affiliate of the North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE) — exists to support and advance conservation and environmental education across the state.
Registration for this event will remain open until January 25, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.
