• This weekend's series marks the first all-time meeting between the Huskers and Black Bears.

• Maine is one of two first-time opponents on Nebraska's non-conference slate this season, joining Auburn.

Home Sweet Home at Hawks Field

• Nebraska is in its 25th season playing at Hawks Field this season and hasn't had a losing season at home in any of the last 24 seasons.

• Following the midweek win against North Dakota State on Wednesday, the Huskers are 446-183-1 in 629 all-time games at Hawks Field.

Best Starts in the Bolt Era

• With an 11-5 record through 16 games, Nebraska is off to its second-best start under head coach Will Bolt, trailing only the 12-4 mark set in the 2021 campaign that ended in the regional final of the Fayetteville Regional.

• The Big Red have reached double digits in wins through 16 games in four of the last six seasons, following an 11-5 start in 2024 and 10-5-1 mark in 2023.

A Look at the Weekend Rotation

• Ty Horn takes the mound on Friday's series opener and is 0-0 on the season with a 3.10 ERA in 20.1 innings this season with 18 strikeouts in four starts.

• Redshirt sophomore Carson Jasa gets the nod in game one of Saturday's doubleheader and is 2-1 with a 5.40 ERA and 27 punchouts in 16.2 innings of work.

• Sophomore Gavin Blachowicz is scheduled to start the series finale and is 2-1 on the season with a 2.41 ERA and 24 strikeouts in 18.2 innings after a complete-game victory against Michigan State last weekend.

Notables on the 2026 Campaign

• With wins against No. 7 Auburn and No. 16 Florida State this season, the Big Red are 8-5 against ranked opponents in the last two seasons.

• Nebraska is one of 13 teams, including one of 11 Power Four programs, to rank in the top 50 nationally in batting average (42nd, .308) and fielding percentage (36th, .980).

• The Husker offense ranks seventh nationally with 46 doubles and 2.88 doubles per game, a pace that would produce a school-record 158 doubles over the 55-game regular season.

• The Big Red are 6-0 to begin the nine-game homestand, recording their best home start since opening the home slate in 2019 with an 8-0 record.

• The NU pitching staff has recorded 14 strikeouts in four of the first 16 games this season, after totaling just six such performances combined in 2024 and 2025.

• Dylan Carey ranks among the top 10 of DI's active career leaders in four categories, including second in at-bats (735), third in doubles (55), fifth in games played (192) and 10th in hits (212).

• Cooper Katskee is off to a strong start for the NU pitching staff and ranks 10th nationally with a 0.62 WHIP and is 19th nationally with a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 13.50.

• Dylan Carey was named to the Brooks Wallace Award Watch list, while Ty Horn and Gavin Blachowicz landed on the Pitcher of the Year Award Watch List.

Mac of All Trades

• Junior Mac Moyer has been a mainstay in the leadoff spot and a key contributor for the Husker offense this season, ranking among the team leaders in a variety of categories.

• The center fielder has seen action in every game this season, reaching base safely in the last 15 contests and entering the weekend with a nine-game hit streak.

• Moyer leads the Huskers with a .444 batting average (33rd nationally), .565 on-base percentage (31st nationally), 15 walks drawn and three stolen bases, while ranking second in hits (24) and OPS (1.121).

• Additionally, Moyer sits third on the NU offense with six doubles and 14 runs scored on the season.

Carey Swinging One of the Nation's Top Bats

• Dylan Carey is second in the country with 31 hits and third nationally with 1.94 hits per game while batting .437 on the season, which ranks fifth in the Big Ten and 38th nationally as of March 12.

• Carey has been one of the most productive hitters in the country, ranking in the top 40 nationally in batting average, hits, hits per game, doubles, doubles per game,  RBI, RBI per game, slugging percentage and total bases.

• The senior shortstop has started all 16 games, going 31-for-71 at the plate with eight doubles, a triple, five homers, 24 RBI and 14 runs scored.

Other Bats in the Husker Lineup

• Case Sanderson has scored a team-best 19 runs and is second on the team with 10 walks while batting .367 with seven doubles, a home run, eight runs driven in and a 1.013 OPS.

• Jett Buck is batting .362 at the plate with six doubles, three homers, 12 RBI and 11 runs scored after doubling twice and driving in three runs in Nebraska's 11-1 win vs. North Dakota State.

• Joshua Overbeek is hitting .305 with six doubles, 10 RBI and 16 runs scored while tallying a .440 on-base percentage.

• Cole Kitchens has doubled five times and is second on the team with 16 RBI as NU's designated hitter, while Jeter Worthley is second on the team with seven hit by pitches and has reached base safely in five consecutive games.

• Drew Grego is batting .294 at the plate while splitting time in the outfield rotation, and Preston Freeman homered for the first time as a Husker in Nebraska's sweep against Michigan State last weekend.

Notable Arms in the Pen

• Caleb Clark has made a team-high seven relief appearances and holds a 3.00 ERA in six innings, while Ryan Harrahill has compiled a 0.90 ERA with one run allowed in 10 innings across six relief outings.

• Kevin Mannell is 1-0 on the year with a save in six appearances and has totaled a 4.82 ERA and 10 strikeouts in 9.1 innings.

• J'Shawn Unger holds a 2-1 record and a save in five relief outings while posting a 4.00 ERA and nine strikeouts with an opposing batting average of .156 in nine innings.

• Pryce Bender has a 1.04 ERA and a save in four appearances after allowing a run across six hits in 8.2 innings, while Chase Olson is 1-0 with a 2.70 ERA across four relief appearances.

• Tucker Timmerman and Colin Nowaczyk have seen action in four relief outings, while southpaws Grant Cleavinger and Braxton Stewart have toed the rubber three and two times, respectively.

Lucky Number Six in the Bolt Era

• Nebraska is 137-29 under head coach Will Bolt when scoring at least six runs.

• The Husker offense has scored six-plus runs in eight of the 11 victories this season after reaching the six-run mark 32 times last season, compiling a 25-7 record.

• Nebraska scored six-plus runs in 34 contests (28-6) in 2024 after tallying at least six runs 33 times (26-7) in 2023, 23 times (19-4) in 2022, 28 times (26-2) in 2021 and seven times (5-2) in 2020.

 Carey Nearing All-Time Doubles Record

• With 55 career doubles in four seasons at Nebraska, Dylan Carey needs two doubles to become the program's all-time leader.

• Carey is tied for second all-time after doubling eight times through Nebraska's first 16 games this season.

• The Castle Rock, Colo., native is tied with Daniel Bruce (2002-05) and Matt Hopper (2000-03) and is one shy of tying Will Bolt 's (1999-02) program record of 56 career doubles.

Get a Lead for the Bullpen

• During Will Bolt's tenure at Nebraska, the Huskers are 149-19-1 since the start of the 2020 season when they lead after the sixth inning.

• The Big Red are 145-17 when leading after seven innings and hold a 144-11 mark when leading after the eighth inning since 2020.

Big Innings Propel NU Offense in Bolt Era

• During Will Bolt's tenure at Nebraska, the Huskers have scored three-plus runs in an inning in 172 games and hold a 136-35-1 record in those contests.

• The Huskers are 61-15 in the last three seasons when the NU offense has generated the big inning (3+ runs) in 2024, 2025 and 2026.
