NDOT to Begin Two Projects

Work will begin on US-81, north of Stromsburg

July 8, 2025  (Grand Island, Neb.) — Weather permitting, work will begin on July 14 on US Highway 81 (US-81), from Stromsburg to Nebraska Highway 92 (N-92), from reference post 79.15 to reference post 83.14, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation.

Vontz Paving, Inc., of Hastings, is the contractor for this project. Work will include concrete pavement repair, asphalt overlay, earth shoulder and seeding. The speed limit will be reduced to 35 mph on the bridge with an 11-foot width restriction. Traffic will be maintained with a pilot car and flaggers. Anticipated completion is Oct. 2025.

Work will begin on N-40, Cherry Valley Creek Bridge

July 8, 2025 (Grand Island, Neb.) — Weather permitting, work will begin July 14 on Nebraska Highway 40 (N-40), east of Miller at reference post 66+92, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation.

Simon Contractors, Inc., of Cheyenne, Wyo., is the contractor for this project. Work includes bridge girder and bent repairs. Traffic will be maintained with shoulder closures and temporary traffic signals. A 10-foot width restriction will be in effect. Anticipated completion is Sept. 2025.

Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously in and near work zones, to buckle up, and put phones down.
