NDOT approved Buffalo County Grant

The Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office has approved the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office for a selective traffic enforcement grant.  The grant allows the Sheriff’s Office to utilize extra deputies for participation in the National U Drive. U Text. U Pay. mobilization.  The extra traffic enforcement will be conducted April 1 – April 8, 2024, at various Buffalo County locations.  Deputies will target all traffic violations with an emphasis on issuing citations for distracted driver violations.  The objective is to decrease the increasing trend of distracted driver fatal, A and B crashes by maintaining a constant trend of 863 (5 year rolling average in 2016-2020) through December 31, 2024, and through December 31, 2026.
