National Show brings almost 1,000 dogs to Grand Island

GRAND ISLAND, NE: The Australian Shepherd Club of America’s 50th annual National Speciality Show will happen at Fonner Park October 12-19. Almost 500 people — many traveling with their families — are bringing nearly 1,000 dogs from across the United States to compete throughout the week. 

Categories of competition include agility, conformation, junior handling, dock jumping, obedience, rally, stock dog, tracking, scent detection, most versatile, and most versatile junior. This large event will utilize the Pinnacle Bank Expo Center, Five Points Bank Arena, Tom Dinsdale Cattle Barn, Sheep Barn, Aurora Cooperative Pavilion, and Thompson Arena. Tracking will take place at Branched Oak State Recreation Area near Raymond, Nebraska.

The public is encouraged to watch the competitions. Entry is free, but visitors are asked to leave their own dogs home.
