Merrick County: Highway 30/Bader Park Accident
Merrick County Deputy was detailed to Highway 30 and Bader Park Road to investigate a two-vehicle accident on Sunday, June 16th. Preliminary investigation indicated that a 2003 Chrysler Town and County van was traveling northbound on Bader Park Road and due to a vehicle mechanical failure, the van struck the rear of a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado pickup which was stopped at the stop sign on Bader Park Road facing (north) Highway 30, which caused the van to travel off the roadway into the ditch, colliding with a power pole causing it to break. The van then continued to travel across Highway 30 coming to rest after colliding with a second power pole on the north side of Highway 30. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in either vehicle. Neither alcohol or drugs were a contributing factor and seatbelts were in use at the time the accident occurred. Southern Public Power District and Chapman Fire and Rescue Department assisted with this incident.
