Late Rally Gives Northwest Football Win At York
(York, NE) - The Northwest football team pulled a rabbit out of the hat on Friday night winning at York by a final score of 10-7. Northwest would trail 7-0 going into the halftime break after the Dukes scored a 28-yard touchdown pass with 22 seconds left in the 2nd quarter.
The two teams would trade possessions most of the night as both teams would have seven punts each in the game. The Vikings would have a tough time getting any flow on offense as Northwest would struggle most of the night until the 3:21 mark of the 4th quarter. Suttles would hit Cam Walker for a 67-yard touchdown pass. Northwest would tie the game at 7-7 with the Wiles point after a touchdown kick. The Vikings would force York to punt forcing Northwest to start at drive at their own 37-yard line. Northwest would hit a big pass to Tyler Collins setting up the Vikings just outside the red zone. Northwest would eventually be faced with a force down call choosing to send out sophomore Evan Wiles for what would be 43 yard field goal.
The kick looked to be low off the foot but it barely just got over the crossbar for Wiles to give the Vikings a 10-7. Northwest would then kick the ball tight to the sideline which would be a scramble drill for the Northwest to recover the ball with only less than two minutes.
