Incident at GISH Thursday

Dear GISH Families,

We wanted to let you know about a resolved situation that took place at GISH today.

A student engaged in a physical altercation towards another student in a hallway during a transition time between classes this afternoon.

Our staff in the area and our SRO intervened immediately to safely deescalate the situation; however a number of students witnessed the event.

We are grateful to report that outside of the students in the altercation, no other students were involved. All other students and staff remained safe.

The instigating student is receiving the appropriate consequences.

Please know that GIPS has a strict policy on fighting and instigating behavior. We do not tolerate physical violence in our schools. Incidents of this manner can result in suspension, mandatory reassignment to another location, or even expulsion. Physical fights could also receive legal consequences from GIPD.

We understand this may be a point of conversation in your home. Please know that ensuring the safety of all individuals in our school is a top priority for us as GISH.
