Hall County Board Approves Courthouse Cost

On two separate motions Hall County Commissioners approved bids for courthouse expansion project. 

Jane Richardson moved to accept the bids on the courthouse addition and remodel as recommended by the construction manager at risk committee and Chief Construction.
Scott Sorensen seconded. That motion passed five two.    

Lance Bachman , Chief Construction Project manage,r explained the process for awarding the bids. There were occasions where a higher bid was granted due to the comfort level with the contractor.  

For example the earth earthworking and shoring bids were granted to the same company since that work will be conduction at the same time. 

Commissioners Karen Brethour and Gary Quandt questioned the cost per square foot compared to other projects in the work in the community. They were the lone 'No' votes on the two motions.

The second motion set the guaranteed maximum price at $35,816,566.46 

They'll set a date for the ground breaking ceremony in the near future. 

Commissioner Pam Lancaster revealed that the mural, to be painted at the end of the building, which was approved at the last meeting, would have a final total price tag of just 2000, about 64 thousand less than if they would have bricked the structure.
