Grand Island Baseball Splits Home Triangular Friday

(Grand Island, NE) - The Grand Island Senior High baseball team hosted Papillion La Vista South and Lincoln Northeast at Ryder Park on Friday, April 11th. The Islanders would split the two games. 

Grand Island would fall to Papillion La Vista South 9-3 in game one. Grand Island would have 3 runs on 8 hits and 2 errors. The Titans would get 9 runs on 10 hits and would not have any errors in the game. GI would get two hits and an RBI from Ian Arends. Brock Cushing would also have two hits for the Islanders. Sam Schroeder, Gage Gannon, Trent Verplank, and Endry Lauriero would each have a hit in the game.  

GI would win the second game of the day, defeating Lincoln Northeast by a final score of 7-4. Grand Island would have 7 runs on 9 hits and commit 3 errors in the game. The Rockets would have 4 runs on 8 hits with no errors in the contest. Grand Island would get 3 hits from Ian Arends. Broxton Barrientos would have 1 hit (homerun) and 5 RBIs. Gavin Haubold would have a home run for 2 RBIs. Cushing, Verplank, and Lauriero would have had a hit each.
