GISH Baseball Wraps Up Lincoln Tournament With Win Over Waverly

(Lincoln, NE) - The Grand Island baseball team wrapped up the Lincoln East tournament on Saturday with a  2-0 win over Waverly. GI would go 2-1 in the tournament. On Friday, the Islanders won against Norris (8-2) but fell to Lincoln East (3-1). 

On Saturday, Grand Island would get 2 runs on 3 hits and have no errors in the game. Waverly would have no runs on 3 hits and would have 1 error in the contest. GI was led by Barrientos, Schroeder, and Laureiro, who each had a hit. Schroeder and Verplank would have the two RBIs for the Islanders. Brock Cushing would go the distance on the hill for Grand Island, pitching the 7-inning shutout, giving up just 3 hits, and would have 3 strikeouts on 74 pitches. 

Grand Island is now 14-6 on the season.
