GISH Baseball Splits Friday Games Lincoln East Tournament

Lincoln, NE) - The Grand Island Senior High baseball team would split a pair of games at the Lincoln East Tournament on Friday, April 25th. 

Grand Island would open the day with an 8-2 win over Norris. In game one of the day, Grand Island would get 8 runs on 9 hits and have 3 errors. Norris would get 2 runs on 3 hits and have 4 errors. Gabe Ruiz would go the distance on the mound, pitching all 7 innings, giving up 3 hits, 2 hits, 3 walks, and would have 4 strikeouts. GI would be led by Sam Schroeder, getting 2 hits and 1 RBI, along with Trent Verplank, having 2 hits and 1 RBI. Endry Laureiro would get 2 hits and 1 RBI. 

Game two of the day, GI would fall to Lincoln East 3-1. Grand Island would have one run in the game coming in the third inning. The Islanders would get 4 hits and have 1 error. Lincoln East would get two runs in the bottom of the third and have one insurance run in the bottom of the 6th inning. The Spartans would get 7 hits. Sam Dinkelman would get the lone RBI of the contest. Trent Verplank would get two hits vs the Spartans. 

Grand Island is now 13-6 and will be back in action for day two of the Lincoln East Tournament on Saturday, April 26th.
