GIPL Announces Winter Programming for Kids & Teens, Including Breakfast with Santa
Grand Island, Neb. — The Grand Island Public Library invites children, teens and their families to enjoy a variety of seasonal programs during winter break. All activities are free and open to the public, and no library card is required to participate.
Breakfast with Santa
Saturday, December 13 - 9:30 a.m.
For all ages
Families can enjoy a light breakfast (while supplies last) along with holiday activities before meeting Santa for photos. Photos will be posted to Facebook by Saturday, December 20. The program concludes at 12 p.m.
Teen Anime Club: Japanese Tea Ceremony
Tuesday, December 16 – 4 p.m.
For ages 12-18
Teens will enjoy matcha and learn about the traditional Japanese tea ceremony.
Teen Program: Candle Making
Monday, December 22 – 2 p.m.
For ages 12-18
Participants can create their own candle to take home.

Family and Group Gingerbread House Building
Two sessions: Monday, December 22 – 6 p.m. // Tuesday, December 23 – 6 p.m.
For all ages
The library will provide all materials for families or groups to build a gingerbread (graham cracker) house to take home.

Teen Program: Bad Art Day
Monday, December 29 – 2 p.m.
For ages 12-18
A freestyle craft event where teens use an assortment of quirky and unusual supplies. The “worst” creation wins a delightfully tacky trophy.
Registration is recommended.
Family Board Game Night
Two sessions: Monday, December 29 – 6 p.m. // and Monday, January 5 – 6 p.m.
For all ages
Families and groups can bring their own games or select one from the library’s updated board game collection. Snacks will be provided.
Kids’ Construction Challenge
Tuesday, December 30 – 10:30 a.m.
For ages 3 and up
Kids will explore building challenges using materials including LEGO, straws, cups, magnetic Clixo pieces and more.
Noon Year’s Eve Party
Wednesday, December 31 – 11 a.m.
For ages 3 and up
Children will celebrate the new year early with games, activities and a balloon drop at 12 p.m.
Cabin Fever Friday
Friday, January 2
9:30 a.m. for Ages 3-9
1:30 p.m. for Ages 10-18
Kids and teens can burn off winter energy with a variety of fun indoor activities.
