GIPD Makes Arrest of Man with Active Buffalo County Warrant

(Grand Island, NE) - On Sunday, March 12th, around 9:30 am a Grand Island Police Officer contacted a suspicious person in the 2500 block of W Division Street who was later identified as Steve Chamberlin. Steve Chamberlin was discovered to have an active arrest warrant. Upon contact, Chamberlin knowingly provided false personal identifying information to a law enforcement officer. Chamberlin was placed under arrest and a search incident to arrest was conducted. The officer located a white crystalline substance that later provided a positive presumptive test for methamphetamine. The officer then located a glass pipe known to be used for ingesting illicit drugs. The officer then located a green leafy substance that later provided a positive presumptive test for marijuana. Officer located a financial transaction device that did not belong to Chamberlin. He then admitted to providing a false name of a person he knew to be real to officers. Steve Chamberlin was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance ( Meth), Criminal Impersonation, Possession of a Financial Transaction Device, Possession of Marijuana <1 oz, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and a Buffalo County Warrant.
