GIPD Awarded “Make it Click” Mobilization Mini-Grant

Grand Island, Neb. — The Grand Island Police Department will take part in the statewide “Make It Click” high-visibility seat belt enforcement campaign, which runs from November 26 - November 30.

The effort is supported by the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office through a mini-grant worth $3,569. Throughout the five-day enforcement period, GIPD officers will conduct targeted patrols focused on seat belt use and child passenger safety.

The goal of the campaign is simple – to increase seat belt compliance and keep more families safe on Nebraska roads during one of the busiest travel weekends of the year.

“Buckling up is the easiest and most effective way to prevent serious injury in a crash,” GIPD Chief Kevin Denney said. “We want everyone traveling for the holiday weekend to arrive safely, and that starts with making the choice to click every trip, every time.”

Drivers can expect to see increased patrol presence, and officers will be watching closely for unrestrained drivers, passengers, and improperly secured children. The Grand Island Police Department encourages all motorists to plan ahead, buckle up, use proper child restraints, and drive safely throughout the holiday season.
