GICC State Tennis - Double Teams In Semi-Finals

(Lincoln, NE) - State tennis day one is in the books. Class B #1 Doubles has Daveigha Heikes and Kelsey Knapp in the state semi-finals. The two Crusaders picked up three straight wins on Thursday. First defeating Pius X 8-2, and then defeating Platteview 6-3, 6-4. Heikes and Knapp then defeated Duchesne 6-2, 6-4 in the quarter-finals. Action resumes for the two on Friday in the state semi-finals vs McCook. The other semi-final match will feature Skutt vs Omaha Brownell-Talbot. 

The Crusaders will also have a pair of players in the #2 Doubles bracket in the semi-finals. Abigail Connick & Jordan Stegman went 3-0 on the day. The two would start the day with a 8-2 win over Ralston, then defeat Waverly 6-0, 6-1. Connik and Stegman would punch their ticket to the semi's with a 0-6, 6-1, 10-4 win over McCook. The semi-final match will be vs Omaha Duchesne on Friday. 

Other action for the GICC - #2 Singles - Lauren Schardt would fall in the quarter-finals vs Elkhorn North 6-0, 6-2.  #1 Singles - Arushi Birthi would win over Hershey in her first match of the day  8-0 but would then fall in the 2nd match of the day to Waverly 6-4, 6-1.
