GICC Football Set To Host Ord In a C2 Semi Final Showdown

(Grand Island, NE) - The Central Catholic Crusaders will try to punch their ticket to the C2 state championship game on Friday, November 14th, hosting the Ord Chanticleers. 

This will be the second meeting between the two teams. Ord defeated GICC for the Crusaders' only loss on the season back on October 3rd by a final score of 21-14. 

GICC has picked up two wins in the playoffs so far, defeating West Point Beemer in the first round 49-14. Last week in the quarter finals, the Saders defeated Archbishop Bergan by a final score of 31-14. 

Ord took down Donipahn Trumbull in the first round of the C2 field 63-30. Last week the Chants went on the road and downed Hartington Cedar Catholic 27-21. Ord scored what would be the game-winning touchdown on a 48-yard touchdown pass with 38 seconds remaining in the game when the Trojans had just tied the game at 21-all with about two minutes left in the fourth quarter. 

The winner advances to Lincoln to play for the C2 state championship on Tuesday, November 25th at 2:45 pm. The other state semi-final on Friday night will be Kearney Catholic (11-0) at Bishop Neumann (10-1).
