GI Fire Called to Structure Fire on Seedling Mile Road

(Grand Island, NE) - The Grand Island Fire department was dispatched to 3810 Seedling Mile Road just after 1:00 pm on Wednesday afternoon in what Battalion Chief Ed Carlin called an "explosion in the area, the way it was called in". As trucks arrived it was found that the house structure wasn't on fire it was the rear of the house where the fire was coming from with a couple of vehicles located behind the house. The black smoke could be seen from all around the city limits of Grand Island. There was some minor heat damage done to the siding of the house. No one was home at the time of the fire as the 911 call came in from a neighbor. The cause of the fire according to Carlin has not been determined. It was noted that there was some loss of farm animals as well due to the fire but was unknown how many and what kinds of animals. Below listen to comments from Battalion Cheif Ed Carlin.
