New Orleans, La. -- Creighton Baseball took an early 2-0 lead in the opening frame, then the pitching staff made sure that was all that was needed in a 2-1 road win at Tulane on Saturday, March 14.

The win lifted Creighton to 7-8 on the season, while Tulane fell to 9-10 overall.

Rocco Gump and Nate McHugh got the Bluejays going from the jump with consecutive singles to start the game. One out later Ben North gave Creighton all the offense it would need with a two-run double down the left field line.

A quartet of Bluejay hurlers held Tulane at bay, allowing just one run on seven hits. Starter Ian Koosman took the ball into the fourth, allowing one run on four hits and four walks. Reliever Evan Stratton came on to deliver five outs, then handed the ball over to J.T. Adams for 2.2 innings of scoreless ball. Adams allowed just one hit and one walk as he earned the win (1-1), while Matt Goldenbaum collected his second save of the season with a hitless ninth.

North and Joe Washburn led the Creighton offense with two hits, while six other Bluejays accounted for one hit each

Creighton and Tulane meet in the series finale on Sunday at 12:00 pm.
