Dusters blow past Wildcats

The final regular season road contests for the St. Paul Wildcats took place Friday night as the Cats headed to Holdrege to take on the Dusters. 

In the first contest of the evening saw Holdrege defeat St. Paul 36-13. The Dusters jumped out to a fast start taking a 13-5 advantage into the 2nd quarter. The second frame saw the scoring pace cut in half as 9 points were scored favoring the home team 7-2. The Dusters outscored the Wildcats 16-6 to come away with the 36-13 victory to improve to 11-10 on the year while St. Paul dropped to 7-15.

It'll be a quick turnaround for the girls as they will practice Saturday before the Postseason begins Monday in Grand Island for Subdistrict play as the Cats take on Aurora in a rematch from January 4th that saw the Huskies win 40-28. The winner will get to keep their season alive vs the host Crusaders on Tuesday while the loser will have their season come to an end. 

Tipoff is set for 6pm with Pump and Pantry Pregame Show on Country 96 for the St. Paul perspective and 97-3 The Wolf for Aurora set for 5:45 P.M.

The Boys contest got off to slow start for the Blue and Gold as Holdrege took advantage of 19-6 first quarter lead before doubling the Cats up 24-12 to take a 43-18 lead into the half. The Dusters edged the Wildcats out 31-30 for the 74-48 victory. The win snaps a 5 game losing streak for Holdrege while St. Paul drops to 7-13.

Levi Bader in his first start at St. Paul earns Runza MVP with 11 points.

St. Paul boys will close out the regular season a week from Friday as they play host to Grand Island Central Catholic on 1430 AM KRGI and 105-5 FM. Game tips at 730.
