DJ's Hero Awards Scholarship Application Open

OMAHA, Neb. (February 21, 2024) - Nominations are now being accepted for the 2024 D.J.'s Hero Awards Scholarships.

Select Nebraska high school seniors who have overcome adversity will be chosen to receive the awards—named in honor of the late D.J. Sokol—for commitment to others and to their communities. Honorees will be selected by a panel of metro-area civic leaders.

This year, a minimum of 16 scholarships will be awarded. What's more, 2024 is a milestone for the D.J.'s Hero Awards, as it marks the 25th year of the program.

Each Hero Awards Scholarship winner will receive a $12,000 scholarship toward their selected college or university. Honorees will be recognized at the D.J.'s Hero Awards event in Omaha on May 7.

Among the criteria for selecting honorees are the following:

- Nebraska residency
- High school senior
- Having overcome challenges/adversity
- Commitment to others and to the community

Nominators and their nominees must submit scholarship applications (nominations) online at www.djshero.org. Applications must be submitted by March 13. Please call 402.898.7669 with any questions.
