Crusaders Look To Stay Perfect, On The Road Tuesday Against Monarchs

Comments From Crusader Volleyball Coach Sharon Zavala Below

The defending C1 State Champions have picked up right where they left off so far in 2023 they are off to a perfect start, and so far on the season have only dropped two sets.

Graduation hit the Crusaders hard replacing five seniors but, Big Blue reloaded.

Returning from a remarkable 2022 campaign is senior setter Carolyn Maser, who last year committed to continue her volleyball career at Drake University.

This season Maser continues to run the Crusader offense with 279 assists on the season, not only making her the leader on the team but perhaps catapulting her into the argument of best setter in all of Class C.

Also returning from last year's state title team are senior libero Tristyn Hedman (178 digs) and senior Hadlee Hasselman who leads the team with a .407 hitting percentage, 124 kills, and 15 ace serves.

But it’s not just the seniors hitting the floor and contributing for the Saders, young sophomore middle hitter Laura Blake continues to grow in confidence each match and leads the squad with 27 blocks on the campaign.

Tonight on the KRGI Sports Network we get our first look at the defending C1 Champs as we hit the road with Big Blue back to David City for a Centennial Conference clash with the Monarch of David City Aquinas. (1-11)

Varsity is set for approximately 7 pm first serve with the prematch beginning at 6:45. on AM 1430 KRGI/105.5 FM
